Environment of Care Standard 1.10: The hospital manages safety risks.

Element of Performance 2: Safety Coordinator

The hospital identifies a person/s as designated by leadership to coordinate the development, implementation and monitoring of safety management activities.

This page provides a set of criteria for evaluating the designated safety coordinator's qualifications.

The facility has designated a Safety Coordinator and a Safety Committee with representation from most departments.

The Safety Coordinator reports directly to Leadership level, as reflected by the facility's organization chart.

The Safety Coordinator has training in relevant issues, such as compliance with the regulations of:

hazardous materials management (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager)

The Safety Coordinator has experience in waste minimization and pollution prevention as means to improve facility safety.
